A New Part: The GRHS NEHS Induction Ceremony

On the evening of Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the Glen Ridge chapter of the National English Honor Society (NEHS) hosted its annual induction ceremony at the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge. The event celebrated the academic excellence and passion for literature of nine newly inducted junior students, marking a proud milestone in their academic journey.

A Night of Music, Literature, and Celebration

The ceremony began with a musical performance by the Glen Ridge High School band, creating a peaceful and respectful atmosphere. One of the highlights of the evening was a solo performance by Eden Kim, whose beautiful rendition left a lasting impression on everyone present.

As family members, friends, and teachers watched proudly, the new inductees walked down the aisle and took their seats, ready to be welcomed into the society.

Honouring the Pillars of NEHS

Members of the NEHS took turns reading aloud the society’s core valuesliterary scholarship, character, and service. These are the key principles every NEHS member is expected to follow and uphold, both in school and in life.

Each inductee was then called to the stage to receive their official NEHS diploma, recognizing their hard work and love for English literature. It was a proud moment for both students and their families, as the students were formally welcomed into the prestigious honour society.

A Symbolic Final Touch

To close the ceremony, all nine new members took part in a collaborative poetry reading. Each student recited one line from a poem, showing how literature can connect people through shared words and feelings. This final act of the night symbolized unity, creativity, and a shared commitment to the written word.

A Joyful Ending

After the official ceremony, the attendees gathered to enjoy snacks and conversations, celebrating not just the induction, but also the sense of community and friendship built through a common love for language and literature.

The NEHS induction ceremony was more than just a formal event — it was a celebration of young minds who love reading, writing, and learning. The night served as a reminder that literature has the power to bring people together, inspire thought, and create lasting connections. The newly inducted members of NEHS now look forward to making meaningful contributions through their words and actions.
