Emerson Jr. Sr. High School Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week with Heartfelt Joy

At Emerson Jr. Sr. High School, teachers are more than just educators—they are mentors, supporters, and friends to students. That’s why it’s so special when their hard work is recognised and celebrated. This past week, students and staff came together to show their appreciation for the incredible teachers who help shape their lives every day.

Honouring Teachers with a Grand Welcome

The week began with a warm and exciting surprise on Monday morning. As teachers arrived at school, students welcomed them with cheers and claps. A red carpet was rolled out, and teachers walked through with big smiles on their faces. It was a powerful moment that reminded everyone just how important teachers are.

Thoughtful Words from a Dedicated Teacher

Mrs. Johnson, a Physical Education teacher at the school, shared how much this week meant to her. “It is so thoughtful and amazing to be recognized along with the wonderful co-workers/teachers I work with,” she said.

She also shared a heartfelt message with the students. “We teachers enjoy what we do and how we help students every day, whether as teachers, friends, or confidants. It’s a privilege to see how these students grow and succeed, both academically and personally. We see their joys, frustrations, determinations, and disappointments. It can be a struggle at times, but very rewarding at other times.”

Her words show how much teachers care about their students—not just in the classroom, but also in their personal growth and daily lives.

A Week Full of Surprises and Smiles

Later on Monday, a flower bouquet station was set up in the school lobby. Teachers got to choose their favourite flowers and make their own special bouquet in a glass jar. Each jar came with a small thank-you note tied with ribbon. The happiness on the teachers’ faces said it all, and students enjoyed seeing them carry their flowers proudly into class.

On Tuesday, teachers were treated to delicious home-baked goodies in the lounge. There were cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and Rice Krispies treats—a sweet way to start the day.

The celebrations continued through the week. On Wednesday, the school administrators cooked breakfast for the teachers. Mr. Hutchinson, Mr. Ponchak, and Ms. Murphy made eggs, bacon, cheese, and served them with bagels, croissants, and brioche rolls. It was a fun and tasty way to say thank you.

More Fun Ahead and Words of Appreciation

The week isn’t over yet. A 3:00 pm early dismissal is planned for Thursday, and on Friday, teachers will enjoy refreshing ice pops to wrap up the week. But the most meaningful gifts come from the students themselves.

One student, Josie D’Auria, a sophomore, shared her thoughts: “Ms. Brentnall is definitely an inspiration to me; she is very smart, supportive, and very chill. I relate to her because she was just a student herself, and she can understand the stress we are under.”

This shows how students truly notice and value the support they receive from their teachers.

A Big Thank You to Every Teacher

The entire week was filled with love, gratitude, and recognition. Students, staff, and administrators came together to celebrate the teachers who guide and care for them every single day. Emerson Jr. Sr. High School is proud of its dedicated teachers, and it’s clear that their work leaves a lasting impact on everyone.

Thank you to every teacher for your time, care, leadership, and the difference you make. Emerson wouldn’t be the same without you!
